The Columbia Public Library’s weapons policy is on the agenda for a meeting of the Daniel Boone Regional Library’s board of trustees Thursday.
The board meets at 6 p.m. in the Virginia G. Young Room of the Columbia Public Library at the intersection of Broadway and Garth.
The library, which changed its signs to adapt to a new concealed carry law, must now allow people to enter the library carrying a concealed weapon, according to previous Missourian reporting.
The change was the result of a letter written by Columbia attorney Jennifer Bukowsky threatening legal action if the library didn’t comply with the law, which took effect on Jan. 1. Bukowsky wrote the letter on behalf of state Rep. Cheri Toalson Reisch, R-Hallsville, who brought a gun to a League of Women Voters forum at the library on Feb. 2.
