When the song “New York, New York” started playing Tuesday evening at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Tom Mendenhall was in heaven.
Mendenhall, a Columbia real estate developer, was one of the earliest Missouri supporters of Donald Trump, and the song signaled Trump’s final victory in the contest for the GOP presidential nomination. For Mendenhall, an alternate in the Missouri delegation, it was his sixth convention and the fifth time his favorite won the nomination.
